The preliminary preparations for the a I mvo Exhibition are now complete, and the Exhibition Council., which lias been increased recently in number is now engaged completing all the necessary details for this important display, which will open at Hokitika on Saturday, loth. Dec.

J he Exhibition i„- organised primarily to celebrate the completion of the East and West Coast railway, which attaches the Coast to the South Island railway system, and also to commemorate tho Diamond .Itibiieo of tho Province of Westland, first settled in January 1804. When the Exhibition movement was first promoted, it was considered a guarantee fund of £2.000 would finance the project, hut as the matter developed, Tt became evident that there would he considerable expenditure to arrange for the influx of visitors, and it was decided to raise an additional £I.OOO to finance the requirements. The guarantee fund has now been increased to over £II,OOO and the finance of the venture is thus fully assured. The layout of the Exhibition has been designed hv Air T. W. Woodrofte ai' Cliristclutreh. who is utilizing four contiguous large buildings, a portion of Mara ml reiv Square and a considerable area of two streets of the Borough of Hokitika. The space plans have now been printed, and are being circulated immediately with the prospectus, which will afford intending exhibitors full particulars in regard to i In- cost of space and the facilities for transport and display. The Exhibition building will he lit with electricity and gas will also be available for those who may require power for motive purposes of mechanical exhibits.

A number of Government Departments have expressed willingness to <ooperato in making important displays, while the manufacturers' associations in the principal centres are also co-opera-ting and will have metropolitan exhibits representative of New Zealand industries. The various Coast towns, as well as Nelson and Blenheim are also interested in the Exhibition, and will have their respective courts.
