THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
Tut-: I.nit: or Travel.
The lure of travel has ever exercised its spell over mankind. Always there has been in an increasing ratio as tho years sped by and facilities increased, a certain proportion of civilised humanity who. hiving, like ( iiiide Harold, the passion to roam, nr do shift somehow to find the power to grafifv it. To such, toil and hardship provide no obstacle that, is insuperable, no difficulty that cannot he obviated. The rapture of seeing with their own eyes strange semes a»d stranger peoples, and tlie thrill of meeting with adveutuies —these rewaids are compensations more than enough to weigh lho balance down The lure has always been great ; even as today the somewhat similar magnet of exploration will draw an Amundsen into the bite and terror of the Arctic trust.
