GREEK REFUGEES.
LONDON, July 17. 'j i.o “Daily Express” Athens correspondent states: The condition of the refugees in Greece is indescribable and pitiable. The lack of food and contagious diseases are killing them off quickly. There are many cases of suicide, including the Precentor of a Constantinople church, who was reduced to fulfilling the on.ee of a candle ug..ter in the Athens Cathedral. His privations so preyed on his mind mat he banged himself from a bar under the canopy of the pulpit. The body was only disclosed when a service commenced and the curtains wore withdrawn from the pulpit to allow a priest to read a lesson. The pongregni.uti were horror-stricken.
