CHINA AND NEW ZEALAND'S PRODFCTS.
AY ELLINGTON. July 13. Questioned as to the possibility of markets in llie East for our produce. Professor Pan Sie-u Chung, of the Ling Naum Agricultural College, at Canton, who is visiting Wellington, made the following reply to a "New Zealand Times” representative yesterday;—
“Will the goodwill of China, and you will be victorious in whatever i n-B-rprise you undertake in that country. To all questions bearing on that matter, or regarding missionary \\orx. f have only tlie one answer.’’ “A friendly deed done to China is as sure to be reciprocated as tile sun is going to rise in the morning,” added tlie visitor, who is an expert in agri-
cultural mailers. China was reasonably close to New Zealand, he said, and there should be an exchange* in tin* matter of trade. China laid nothing for competition. I tit iniiili for exchange. "AA’hy cannot this country send butter to China as 'veil as Australia ■*” he asked. "It- will no n long time before China understands the dairying business as well as New Zca land. lam sure we would be very glad to get your wool and your produce. In return you can have our silk and tea.” Comment was made of the fact that though China could trace her history back over 5000 years, in many respects .sin: was a virgin country. Her t;o----niendons natural resources bad never been touched. Old as lar as age went, IB lountry wav young in ni-dcrial d*i clopnient. The professor made bold to say thati;• time New Zealand would find that China would he her greatest market.
“AW look to the Dominion for <(limneri ml and industrial assistance.'' he remarked, "and the guidance and leadership in many respects."
