The Referees’ Association meet tonight nt 7.10 o’clock, the Judicial Committee at 7.43 and Sub l nion at 8 o’clock.

There will be no practice of the Band beginners class either to-night or tomorrow night.—Advt.

The representative football match between Mokfhinui and Westland takes place on Cass Square on Thursday afternoon, kick off at 2.45 p.m. The team is reputed to be a strong one, comprising a number of the Buller reps, and should give a good exposition, being fast and tricky. The game should prove an interesting one.

The progress of concrete street paving was referred £o by the Mayor of Auckland, Mr J. H. Gunson. Notwithstanding the wet weather, said Mr Gunson, work had proceeded steadily and the Great North Road had been practically completed on one side to the old North Road. Excavation work and kerhing had been com in need on the other side and in two months the whole thoroughfare should be completed. Secondary work was being well maintained and the City Council would shortly commence work on the .Mount Eden Road to the city boundary.

An unusual motor lorry accident occurred in Durham Street West (Auckland) about 3 p.m. on Tuesday. A driver was cranking his engine when the lorry suddenly commenced to run down the slight incline. The driver jumped into his seat, hut the engine started, and before he could get control of his machine it had crashed in--1 o a side doorway of the -Metropolitan Hotel. The driver was not hurt, hut the front portions of the lorry were considerably damaged. The doorway, which was of stone, was not damaged
