It was reported in town to-day that Mr J. Mnncra of Wr.itaha, hud been injured ns the result of a fall of earth, but no particulars were to hand.
The Kokntnlii Winter Show is taking place this afternoon in perfect weather. Quite a large crowd have gone out to the country gathering, the day being a glorious one.

At the Drill Hall to-night a monster euchre tournament, arranged by Mrs Lynn for the R.S.A. Building I' und, takes place. Ten valuable prizes have been provided and a large number ol tickets sold. To start at S o clock sharp. Admission Is. —Advt.
The usual weekly euchre tournament and dance took place at St Mary's Chib rooms on Monday evening. Tile attendance was large. After keen competition. the ladies’ first prize was won by Miss Einnertv (Auckland), and tin? second by Miss Johnston. The gents’ first prize was won by Air 1. Bouse, and the second by Mr AA . Goodiellow. The consolation prizes were received by Mrs C. Gibbons and Air F. Saxon. After sup-per, dancing was indulged ill for a couple of hours, the music being capably supplied bv Airs B. Breeze, and Air E. Kearns had charge of the tloor.
A peculiarly impudent theft was committed at the residence of Air P. S. Nieliolls. a Christchurch land agent, on Saturday night, when his motorcar was removed from the garage. It i- tFinnghl that the theft was committed about /iiidnight, as a neighbour beard a ear leaving the street at that tine. Entrance to the garage was effected by a side door, which was not locked. The doors on to the street were then opened Irom the inside. The owner received a big surprise when he found the car missing on Sunday morning. He communicated with the police and later the c-.-.i was found abandoned outside the Bromlev Cemetery. Except (or the removal of the tail light the ear was undamaged. The thief or thieves, however, got. away with about sixty feet or practically now hose.
