NEXT SATURDAY.
SOLDIERS SALE DAY. Saturday next will be Soldiers’ Sale Day as a benefit for the building fund for the rooms being provided as a club and social hall in Sewell Street. The scheme is an ambitious one in some respect-. but- completed it will fill a long felt want for t-be town, bo a most useful adjunct to the amenities, and will -h-e revenue earning for maintenance purposes.
The. social hall part is now in hand, and the building should be in use next month, when a special programme to mark the opening, extending over four nights, is being prepared. The main hall will he half as large again as the former Supreme Hall, while there will bo a side annexe which may be used for dancing or as a supper room. The annexe will he connected with the.main hall by a wide archway, and will thus be part of the hall itself. These enlarged and convenient promise will be a great adjunct to the town. Gifts of all kinds will be welcomed for the sale day on Saturday next, and goods of various descriptions will lie on sale at the depot throughout the day. The management is in the hands of a committee of ladies who are proving most enthusiastic workers.
