We regret to record the death of Air Frederick William Martini, which took place .at Springfield yesterday from pneumonia, after a short illness, lhe deceased was a member of the wellknown Stafford family. Ho was 26 years of ago, and leaves a sorrowing wife and one daughter, about 5 years of age. Tho remains are licing brought to Greymouth where they will bo interred to-morrow afternoon.

The recent flood at Afiddlemarell had at least one humorous feature (relates au exchange. A knocking on the trap door of the cellar aroused the attention of some men who were lounging oil the verandah.
