COMING NEW SERIAL.
No Effort Spared to Make Historical Movie Realistic. Every history and text book in the Los Angeles and Hollywood libraries was scanned diligently during the preparation of the continuities for “With Stanley in Africa,” the Universal diopter play which comes to the Princess Theatre on Wednesday, and which records in accurate detail the trying hardships and misfortunes of the historical explorations which took so many brilliant men into the wilds and mysteries of the Dark Continent in IS7I. But skilfully interwoven with the ac(s of history is the always necessary thread of love and romance.
Though the famous expedition followed close on the heels of the reconstruction period of the Civil Mar and much valuable detail was lost to history because it was overshadowed by this epochal event, no effort and expense have been spared to gain all the facts of the expedition. It is interesting to note that while Henry M. Stanley and Dr-David Livingstone were the names historians remembered. James Gordon Bennett, who was in 1871 editor of the New York Herald, was responsible for the famous expedition. Bennett originated the idea and furnished the money for the expedition, and but for him the entire exploration heralded so sensationally by historians might never have l>een. At the time of the expedition Bennett was one of the best known newspaper men of America.
