HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONDAY, JUNE -Ith. The monthly meeting was held last evening at 7 o’clock. Present: Rev A. (■. Purchas (chair), and Messrs G. Heir,-., W. H. Shannon, IV. E. Richards, and S. J. Preston (lion. Sec). From Rector, High School, reporting average attendance lor month 396.5 and for the last week 405, the highest on record; the dental clinic lias opened with Nurse Boyle in charge. Miss Ma vug has three months’ leave of absence owing to illness; Miss Dixon has gone to Koiterangi; Miss Itoscoe is expected this week to relieve; .Mrs Burger has resigned the dressmaking class and .Miss Ccderman was appointed in her place.—Received. It was resolved that Mr Stevenson con struct a cupboard for the dental clinic; that a letter lie sent to Miss Mayne sympathising with her in her illness ; that the Hoard he applied to for cement to construct a fence in front of war memorial; that the matter of repairing blinds be left with Mr Preston ; that application lie made to the Board for a chair and table.

It was resolved that application bo made to the Technical Department to have the roof of tile Technical School painted ; and for part payment of water rate at the school.—Received. The matter of providing hot cocoa during the winter months wnR left with the Chairman and Secretary to arrange. Messrs Heinz and Lloyd were appointed visitors for the ensuing month.
