Buchanan for the purpose of endowing an agricultural chair at Victoria University College
r !'he deputation urged that the Government should consider the taking over cf Tanatahi Soldiers’ Farm, near Maslerton. and use it for the scientific instruction of young* men in conjunction with the 1 Diversity endowment. 'l'h-. speakers deplored the constant drift towards the cities, and thought Ibis proposal would do something to counteract that tendency. 'I he tana, with its area of 7.10 acres and equipment. was no larger than was needed for the purpose originally intended. Th,. Wairarapa residents subscribed cp-, .0110 for its establishment. Air Massey gave a sympathetic reply. stating that it gave ldm much satisfaction to see such interest taken throughout the country in scientific agricultural education, but he would make no pronouncement as to the lanatahi Farm until the deputation had formulated its proposals.

J. Poison (Dominion President of the L 1,10,1 was heartily thanked for an address which he gave on the suDjc-it. On the motion of Mr John lid ml j t unanimously agreed: '‘Unit this meeting agrees to give full Power to the AY heat Board in connection with the fixation of prices for the whole ol me wheat growing industry, and that the hoard he requested to meet, the Premier as soon as convenient, to discuss the whole position: and that the other branches of the union be requestotl to pas? a similar resolution.*' Air Bitchcner. AU\ for Waitnki. was unanimously elected president of the South Canterbury executive.
