(Received this day at 10.10 a.in.) LONDON. May 14 The Paris press generally approves of the reply. The “Echo de Paris says the feature of the situation '? that French official circles declare themselves satisfied with the Britisa note and very pleased with the Italian note. The “Petit Parisian” says both Rome and London desire that conversations with Germany should be reopened at any price. It must be remembered, however, that neither France nor Belgium would consider such negotiations until Germany recognises there will he no evacuation until the reparations are paid, and ceases passive resistance. GERMAN VIEW. (Received this day at 10.45 a.m.) BERLIN, May 14. The British Italian replies have caused despondency. There are suggestions of an approaching Ministerial crisis. The Democrats consider them not aggressive, and welcome the fact that tlie door of negotiations is not slammed. Cabinet circles regard the tone as harsher than was expected.
