CHINESE BANDITS.

AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION, EIGHT CAPTIVES RELEASED. PEKING, May 13. The Chinese Department of Communications lias announced that it has received information that eight of the seventeen foreigners held captive by the .bandits have been released ancTni'e proceeding to Linclieng, to entrain for Pekin. The release of the remainder is expected to follow shortly. The release will be followed by a complete compliance with the bandits’ terms, namely, the withdrawal of the . pursuing army, non-punishment of the bandits, and the non-restriction of tlieir freedom of movement. It is not known whether any indemnity is to he paid. It is'understood that- the bandit chief informed the negotiator for the Chinese Government that the rest of tho captives would he freed if the Government demonstrated its intention to fulfill its guarantees.
