AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. THE WEMBLEY DISASTER. LONDON, April 30. A special meeting of the Board of the Empire Exhibition lias issued a report- on the Wemblely scenes, stating i the trouble was due to an entirely unprecedented crowd which was three times greater than anticipated. All reasonable steps were taken to obtain order. Nearly live hundred police, in addition to mounted, together, with two hundred officials, were present. The traffic arrangements were so admirable that tens of thousands al people landed on the scene with extraordinary rapidity. Once the crowds rushed the barriers no force was adequate to cope with it. LONDON, April 30 A remarkable incident was recorded during the voyage of the steamer Diogenes. Herbert Gilson, a South African poet, who was discharged from the Army totally blind, joined the vessel at Durban for the purpose of consulting a specialist in England. He became ill and lay unconscious for several days, and upon recovery his sight was completely restored. INDIAN RIOTS. DELHI, April 30. During riots between Hindus and Mohammedans at Multan, one was killed and nine wounded. The police find troops restored order and arc now patrolling the town. BOLSHEVIK EXCESSES. DELHI, April 30 Reports from Central Asia state Bolsheviks attacked Mohammedan tribes in Eastern Bukhara and drove them from the few remaining towns still in their possession into the mountains. Despite promises of n liberal regime, the Bolshevists permitted unrestrained excesses against the populations of the captured towns.
