I). J. Kvans. Secretary ltritir-li and International Exhibition. wrote regarding the osed exhibition at ilkitikit. The Chairman moveil 1 1 1.. t a letter he sent to the Railway Department pointing out that the serriee on the "Westland seetion for the Kaster holidays was of an unsatisfaetory character. inasmuch as persons e-'tild net travel from one end of ire section to the other without patronising motor ears, and asking that in future excursion schemes the convenience of the travelling public he considered ; also that a copy of the letter he sent to the Grey Chamber of Commerce r.iul Hokitika Progress Longue.— Seconded by Mr Austin and carried. .Mr Carroll moved that the Canterbury Progress League be written to regarding the system of three rates on goods from Roeftou to Christchurch. If this is adopted it will mean that freight on coal from lieeiton will he double that charged under the existing tariff.—Seconded by Mr J. Patterson and carried.
