The De Luxe Theatre Company. Ltd. of Wellington have m-iopied the tender of Mr W. Williamson, contractor. Christchurch, for the construction of a new and up-to-date picture theatre, t" l,e erected in Courtenay IMace. 'I he contrac t price is in the neighbourhood of £l').o'Hl. and the architect t- -Mr Llewellyn F. Williams. A.H.LILA., oi Grey street. Wellington. 'I he' new theatre will he cpiite modern, hut bordering on the Men Give, with lavish decorations, and an artistic- coinur scheme. The entrance will he ill'll wide and tiled, while the stairs will he ut marl>!e. both entrance and stairs being panelled in oak and Queensland map-.e. There is to be a large foyer and ample exits, and the accommodation will be fi, r 1800. The seating arrangements will enable all patrons to got an ex rollout view, and the seats will be up-to-date automatic up-ups. except lor 170 de luxe chairs in the circle. It is expected that the new theatre will he opened early in the New Tear.
