TRIBUTE TO NEW ZEALANDERS. WELLINGTON. April 11. .Mr I). F. Wilbur. Consul-0* lion*.! for the United Stales in New Zealand, who has resigned from the consular service, and will leave New Zealand on Friday next, informed a “Dominion” reporter yesterday that he was sincerely sorry to go away, as this bad proved by far the pleasante-t ronsulnr post he had ever occupied. “If had been by earnest de-ire.” he said, “to renin in hero for two or three years longer, lint circumstances at home in connection with personal business matters compelled me lo resign from the service sooner than contemplated. t shall always look hack with pleasure, to the fact that- New Zealand was my last consular post, for the reason that since my arrival 1 have received the greatest courtesy and kindness from Government officials and from the people of the country. It is the sim ere hope of Mrs )\ ilher and myself that we will he able to soon revisit tho Dominion.” ;\lr Wilber said that he would always 1)0 interested in the welfare of the New Zealand people, and declared tnat he would he pleased to do \\hate\ci li* l could to assist in the development of the sale of New Zealand products in tile United States. “1 found during my stay in New Zealand. 1 he proceeded, "that New Zealander- and Americans, have much in common. !hey are of the same blood and descend Horn the same stock in the Old Country, hut now and again I liml that we do not exactly understand each other. If we did understand eaeli other better no would find that we had much more in common.”
