At the Princess Theatre last evening to ;t large audience was presented a film version of Mark Twain s famous novel. “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court,” for the first time. It is a delightful nonsensical fantasy, humourous of the last degree. Ihe principal character played admit ably by Harry Movers, > s a Yankee of to-day Martin Cavendish, who. though engaged to a wealthy aristocrat, is in love with her secretary. While reading a. copy of his book, he is attacked by a burglar. who struck him down with a lance be finds in bis room. Cavendish, while falling, strikes his head against the furniture, and imagines himself attacked and taken prisoner to the Court of King Arthur. He is sentenced to death but threatens to take away the sun, and as a solar eclipse happily occurs, he is bailed as a great magician and appointed Prime Minister. Later be gets into the power of the wicked Morgan Le Fav. and is again sentenced to death, hut is rescued by Sir Lancelot on a fiery, black, sporting Mex-Engle-spirited Ford. The film is highly amusing, is very well acted, staged and produced. The Queen of England witnessed this film and laughed heartily at the various witticisms against Royalty. and thoroughly entered into the spirit. This most humorous film will he shown at the Princess Theatre again to-night for the last time.
