At a meeiiig a Christchurch ot the Beard of Governors of the Mel.eao Institute, Nurse Susan Kitto was appointed matron. Nurse Kitto was formerly assistant matron of the Christchurch Hospital and matron of Timaru Hospital. She has been matron of the (Iroymoutli Hospital for tile past IT rears.
Mr .James Kelly died at bis residence. Green Lane Road. Auckland yesterday morning after a short illness. Deceased for many years kept the Inangahua J unction Hotel. He was a native of Kumara. He leaves a wife and familv of eight, live boys and three girb and a sister. Mrs M. Jones, Herbert Street. Greymuuth. Deceased was 00 years of age.
The funeral or the late Mrs I\ar*bacli of Lower Kokatahi took place yesterday. There was a large number of mourners, including many relatives present. The Rev A. C. Porchas conducted the services at All Smuts Church and the graveside. Many wreaths and floral emblems were deposited on the grave from sorrowing friends.

A telegram from Christchurch states that Set on Steward Kyle, aged seventeen, a student of St Andrew's College, died yesterday as a result of an injury received in a cricket match on Wednesday. Kyle collided with another youth, while fielding a catch, and suffered a ruptured liver. Deceased was a soli of Mr 11. S. S. Kyle, who (•untested the Riccnrtim seat in the ■Reform interest at the general electron, and who lately judged the stock section at the Greymouth A. and 4’. Show.
