A bankrupt auctioneer, Percy William Douglas .was charged at the Police Court .with having fraudulently converted to his own use four sums totalling £287. The informations were laid as a result of enquiries, following on a meeting of hi- creditors on T'eb. a meeting of his creditors on February 2nd. when it was resolved to place the facts before the Crown Solicitor. Ihe case was adjourned till next Ihursdny, accused getting hail. HEALTH BOARD. WELLINGTON, .March 14 A meeting of the Board of Health was held in Parliament Buildings toduv. The Minister, -Mr Parr, presided. The Health Department furnished an exhaustive report ol ihe staffing, dietary and general efficiency oi' private nursing homes —some 212 in all. The Board decided to ask the four Nurse Inspectors to meet a committee of the medical men on the Board, in order to make further inquiries regarding the general efficiency of the private homes, and to report at the next nmetin< f ol the Board. At to-dav’s meting of the Board of Health, a lengthy discussion on the housing problem was initiated by Dr J. S. Elliott, who declared there is still a shortage of 20,000 houses throughout the Dominion. The need lor more houses of a sort, within the means ol ihe average worker was unanimously admitted, hut there was a wide divergence of opinion as to the best methods of solving the problem.
