A DEBT. OR ABLE POSITION. .'Received this dav at 9 30 a.m.) LONDON March 13. The Ruhr shootings have produced ft state of extreme tension, both in the occupied area and France itsell. The murder of Frenchmen has aroused feelings of anger, horror and indignation. nil,l a universal demand that the victims be avenged, and French soldiery and officials protected under the strongest measures. A Paris correspondent says an uneasy feeling has arisen. The crime marks the opening of a new ami grimmer chapter in Ruhr, that passive resistance having failed, the Germans are instituting a reign of terror comparable with the guerilla warfare and murders attendant on reprisals in Ireland, and terrorist methods employed by Germans in Upper Silesia, ft is suggested the Germans are organising sharpshooters, capable of pursuing a guerilla warfare at Darmstadt, Solingen and other places round Ruin*. REPORTED ARREST. LONDON March 13. According to a German report, Frailloin [Aiders, who is a woman member of the Reichstag was arrested by French soldiers in Ruhr. COAIM EXIST AIURDERS. Received this day at 12.25 p.m.) PARIS. March 13. The press commenting on the Brussels’ Conference emphasise that France and Belgium do not desire to detach Ruhr from Germany. still less annex it. The “Echo National” says the Government has decided to strengthen the forces in Ruhr by fifteen thousand. Others report a probable extension of the occupation .including vital centres such as Darmstadt, in order to stop speedily, the German opposition.
