Mental Hospital Picnic.
I A GREAT success. Could the donors of the huge amount of delicacies, trophies, ami cash towards the Mental Hospital ! uni*realise to what extent it contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable day. and W what measure the patients enjoyed the good cheer piovided, it would amply reward them for their outlay. To most of u- a picnic i- merely a minor incident. and we are. ini the greater pari, quite unable in appieciate ilie bu-t l hat such an entertainment is a great event in the lives of those confined to the narrow limits of a Mental Ho-uiial. Wednesday was exceptionally line, and Mes-rs Cut Brothers’ Lorries together with Hie Mental Hospital truck left Sen View at 9 a.m., conveying about 1211 people out to tin- grounds placed at their disposal by Mr W. Graham at Kokatahi. There, -ports anil games were indulged in, with intervals
for lunch and lea. till about 6 p.m.. when the party returned in town. Some good contests took place in tho games ami sports and a liberal distribution of prizes was made possible by the amount of suitable contributions.
