Swimming Bath Sports.
A GOOD NIGHT’S SPORT
The novelty of a swimming carnival at night attracted a large attendance at the .Municipal Swimming Baths last night. The enclosure was crowded with old and young. Seating was . at a premium very early in the evening, and many folk had to stand. Ihe attendance was estimated at SOI). There was a splendid night’s sport. All the events were well filled, and for three hours and a half the sport was kept going. There was a fine supply of fresh water, and the night proved a verv pleasant one. The swimmer' seemed to revel in the baths. 1 In' races were all closely contested. The handicapping brought the competitors verv close together in many ol the finishes. The baths were well lit; and all the racing could hi* seen to advantage. The general arrangements ''••' all that could lie desired. The visitinn competitors from Oreymoiith and Ross spoke highly of the attention paid them. Comfortable, heated dressing rooms were provided, as also hot eoTl'ee and biscuits, with which the competitors were freely regaled. The hand was in attendance and played at , intervals during the llight. Mr A. |,awn, ihe organiser, had everything well arranged and was capably supported by an enthusiastic hand of officials. The evening passed oil very pleasantly.
