A special meeting of the City Council uaw held to-night to consider the following clause of the By-Laws and Fincane Committee’s report, relating to the reduction of bonuses. The Committee recommended: “That the reduction in the bonuses made bv the Arbitration Court, pursuant- to its general orders, made in May ami November lan. be put in operation ns from January Ist. 1928. and that the savings effected in consequence be applied in providing employment, for workers needing same.” A motion for the adoption of the clause was negatived by twelve votes to seven.
