MI'MCI I’AI, SWIMMING BATHS (To the Editor). Sir.—-On behalf ol the children of Westland I should like to make an appeal for I Minis to help to pay for equipping Ihi local Swimming Baths with such a splendid flow of fresh water, i feel sure that those present at the opening ceremony yesterday must have fi ll gladness in their hearts to see the scon,; of children battling away, endeavouring to learn the art ol swimiiiin with ease, and otherwise* makili.tr themselves physically lit to enjoy lib to tin fullest, hut there is one side ot the (jiiestion which must he attended to —the financial side—and linn nee is badly needed at present. The Amateur Swimming Club have* personally guaranteed, the payments ef the improvements. Imping that the public will give them whole hearted support for such a worthy object. Although Messrs Butler and Wylie together with the Kanicri Power Company hay;* helped us along with motors pumps etc., there has been a big expense in r< pairing the baths, sheds, erecting grandstand tic*, etc. The improvements include a comfortable dwelling for Ihe caretaker, who can reside there permanently. thereby protecting tne property for the Borough authorities. So far the Public ban e- Attributed £■> Bs, the Borough CIO and season lichees realised £lB. making tin* total A IP'* The whole of this money lias b> . a < - pended in repairs, and we now have to face the payment ol the new water supply.
