AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES. “TRUTH ABOUT HUSBANDS.” AND LARRY SE A lON COMEDY TO-NIGHT. Tense dramatic moments are frequent throughout the screening of “Truth About Husbands,” a First National all-star attraction at the Princess Theatre to-night in which dainty May McAvoy and Holmes Herbert have the principal roles. Convincingly developed and skilfully handled, this Pinero play goes straight to the heart of things and is a smashing indictment of the doublo code of morals. Anna Lehr’s performance is remarkable for its sincerity and tenderness, and May McAvoy is well balanced and appealing. There are strong situations as may be expected in a Pinero production and men as a whole will hardly like to sec; themselves held up to scorn for traits that are common enough although usually hidden benenth a bushel. Women, on the other hand, will delight in the exposure of the stronger sex. a theme so rarely handled as openly as this production proves. A happy ending moral puts a finish on the peccadilloes of the erring husband in the case, and final punch goes to the heart of things in an irresistible manner. A good programme is not complete without a comedy and patrons are well catered for in this respect to-night when the popular screen comedian Larry Semen will appea rin his laest two-reel comedy “The Tall Guy.” A Path© Gazette will also bo shown. MCLEAN’S PICTURES. " GLORIA SWANSON—TUESDAY. Air McLean present at the Princess Theatre on Tuesday a great Paramount special starring Gloria Swanson in “Under the Lash,” a wonderful drama with many tense scenes. An International News, a comedy and also a travelogue will also be screened. The full orchestra will supply a select programme of music.
