SHARP RISE IN PRICES. [BY TELEGRAPH PER PRESS ASSOCIATION) CHRISTCHURCH; Dee. 14 The second Christchurch wool sale of the season opened briskly before a full bench of buyers representing English, Crtlonial, American and Continental houses. There was a further sharp advance in prices, merino showing it rise of from ltd to 2d per lb, half bred and Corriedale 1)<1 to 2d, three-quarter bred by I}d to 2d, medium and coarse cross bred ljd pieces. Cocks, bellies and crutchings on an average by Id to 2d.
An entry of 15,433 bales, and after 7000 bales were sold the top prices were merino 27.1(1, Corriedale 26)d, half bred 21 \ d. three-quarter bred 20;|d, cross bred Kid, merino pieces 22d, half broil pieces ISJd, (Corriedale pieces 22jd, merino locks 1 ltd, bellies 12-Jtl. Corriedale hollies 15;!d, crutchings 0)d. down pieces 15)d. RIG WOOL PRICE. CHRISTCHURCH, Deo 14. Just before the wool sale closed tonight, a record price for New Zealand was established for merino wool. Thirty eight bales of “Caegloehart” brand, from Blenheim, sold at 28jd petr lb., and 39 at 27Jd. The local mills were the purchasers.
