MONDAY, DEC. lth. Tho Committee met at 7 p.m. Present:—Messrs W. H. Shannon, (Chairman),- Stevenson, •Lloyd, King, Rev Purchas, Preston and Aitken. Tlie minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. IN WAR D CORRESPONDENCE. From Canterbury Board asking to have necessary repairs effected to the porch, and at South Spit; stating a ling was being sent for South Spit.—Received. From T. Robinson, asking for a share -of Committee’s business.—Received and request granted. From South Spit Social Committee, inviting members to social. —Received. From Toucher, South Beach (Miss Hacked), reporting average attendance for month was 21.7 from roll number of 23. Received From Rector (Mr T. Irvine) reporting average! attendance for period was 382.8 from roll number of 412: stating the voting for choice of site for school picnic- was as follows:—Ross 11, Kuniara Junction 13, Mahinapua 21, Greymouth 30, Runnngn. 97; stating that the sale of tickets from the picture entertainment given by Air McLean amounted to £24 ; asking that the date of the school holidays he fixed. As the attendance fia s been well over the number to allow of a permanent, teacher, and as Aliss Cornwall had received an appointment in Canterbury, the Board bo asked to call applications for the position.—Received. It was resolved that Ruuanga he fixed for the school excursion; that the school close on Wednesday. Dec. 20th., and resume on Monday, Jan 29th. It was-resolved to

j ask for applications by tho Board for ; an appointment of a teacher. It was resolved that the Secretary make the necessary arrangements to Bold the picnic excursion on the Ist Wednesday in February (the 7th), adjoining eonnnitees to bo notified. It was resolved to make the presentation of prizes at the school on the afternoon of tho breaking-up for the holij days. The Chairman acknowledged I special prizes from Rev Ptirehas. Messrs ! Evans, Yarrall, King, Shannon and Mrs I Brown. . , Rev Purchas reported on behalf Of thc> Visiting Committee, on a number of small matters.-Received. Messrs Stevenson and Aitken were appointed visitors for next month. Tho procuring of the prizes was left to tho Rector. Mosrs Lloyd. King. Bruce and Stevenson were appointed collectors lor tho picnic fund. Accounts were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
