Mr Whitley was unanimously re-elected. Speaker. During the earlier part ol the day there was a rush by new members to mark off seats, which they may occupy for the scission. The earliest comers arrived licit ween five and eight in the. morning. Mr Lloyd George and bis followers found seats on the Opposition benches below the gangway. While members attended the House of Lords to hear the Commission opening Parliament being read, sonic Commoners found accommodation in the gallery where one with a Scottish accent. said in a loud voice: “We will .smash all that lot and give them tranquillity.” The Commoners returned to the Commons and swearing in is pi acceding.
