FAREWELL BEFORE OPERATIONS. LONDON, Sept 20. An inquest was held at Westminster yesterday on Emily Corbyn, 30, a Metropolitan police-constable’s wife, who died while under the influence of novocaine, a local anaesthetic. The husband said he was told that the operation was fixed for 11.15, but when he reached the hospital lie found that it had taken place.at 10.15 and tat his wife was dead. Dr Claude Franknu, senior assistant surgeon at St George’s Hospital, su,d the time of the operation was altered at the request of the physician so that he might he present. Dr Franknu said he had strong objections to allowing a relative to sec a patient before anaesthesia, as the patient was liable to become excited nnd emotional. The coroner said it was not always a good thing to allow a husband to have a farewell interview with lus wife when she was about to undergo an operation.
