LEADER OP CONSERVATIVES. (Received this dav at 0.30 a. a.) I.ODNON, Oct. 23. Hon Dollar T.aw was unanimously elected Conservative leader. POETIC Af. OUTLOOK. (Received this dav at 3.30 a.m.) LONDON. Oct 22. There is very great speculation in all quarters regarding election prospects, which are of a most confusing character. It is known the main body of Conservatives are perturbed by the possibility of opposition from Coalition liberals, which will inevitably give many otherwise safe seats to Labour. Independent Liberals also are uncertain. The Chamherlainites will not insist on a bargain with other Tories, which would seriously hamper the campaign, while the possibility ol Air Lloyd George returning to Westminster supported by his own party, further complicates the outlook. It is conceivable in the latter case that Air Lloyd George would remain master of the situation. Air Hodges admits that Labour does not hope to secure a. winning position at this election. He predicts, nevertheless, sufficient victories to become an effective opposition. ’ ' H is believed the dissolution will be proclaimed on the 25th.. and that polling will be held on November 14th., and that Parliament will meet on the 20th. The anticipation of the Conscrvatives. for political reasons, do not favour Saturday polling. Air Thomas, in a speech at Caruso declared he conlcl conceive nothing si *iean, contemptible and politically dis honest, as an election deliberatei; timed to make it inconvenient and ex pensive to the poorest class. He de mantled a Saturday. BRITISH ELECTIONS 15th. NOV Deceived this day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, October 23. Hon. Bonar Law lias seen the Kini and undertaken to form a Ministry There will he a dissolution on Thurs day and the elections will take plac on 15th. November.
