An Arahura Social.
(From a (In respondent), i A most enjoyable dance was held in Taiiea. Hall oil Monday evening the occasion being the winding up of the Aniliur.i Football Club season. The ball was beautifully decorated with tree ferns and kai kais. The various team’s colours were a most conspicuous feature i.f the scheme, while- the pretty frocks worn by tile dancers added still further colour to the scene. Ihe music and floor were excellent and all that could he desired by lovers of the light fantastic A varied selection of Maori songs and hakas was given with excellent effect and artistic finish, and were keenly appreciated by the audience, who made frequent demands for encores. Mr F. McGregor (President ol the Westland Suib-Union) presented the cup won by the Arahura sovon-a-sido team. Mr Peril am then presented a. medal to Master D. Mason as the most improved played for the season (the medal was donated bv Mr T. Coll). Miss I). Nicholson’s contralto voice was heard to advantage in “When 1 Awake”. Mr .1. Maloney next took the opportunity of presenting Master
I). Tainui on behalf of his admirers with a medal and trusted he would keep u|> tile reputation as the best player in the Arahura Football Team. Master !). Tainui amidst applause thanked A* r Maloney for tho kind words sjiicl nliout liim iind trusted if ever the occasion may arise he would do his best to keep the faith that his admirers had in him. Mr Stoplorth’s rendering of “The Old Fashioned House” was greatly applauded. The guests of the evening were Messrs F. McGregor, J. Stafford (Westland Subl'iiion) and members of the Kiwi Football Club. Thanks were expressed by Airs Mason to Mr Perlinin for support and also to Airs Glass of the Occidental Hotel for tlu> use of her piano.
