(Received this day at 9.30 i ) LONDON October 11A deputation representing fruit interests waited on Sir J. Allen, tomplaining of the multiplicity of brands on cases and urging that each consignee should hat e a registered number, which should be stamped on the case prior to shipment, thus facilitating the delivery of cases from the ship. Sir J. Allen gave a sympathetic reply. Similar trouble Ims been longstanding in the Australian trade. Air A si, 1 olt lias taken over the matter and has now - produced a workable scheme i n economic lines. EMPIRIC DEVELOPMENT. (Received this dav at 9.30 fi.nO LONDON, October 12 - . The Tariff Reform League, which came into existence in 1903 has decided to close down. Its place was taken hv the recently • formed Empire Development Union. The Chairman of the League says with the establishment ol the measure of imperial preference, the principles of the league have received a delinite expression. It _ now remains to secure a fulfilment of the last Imperial Conference’s decision and looks to the Empire Development Union to help forward to the full realisation of the great policy of Empire consolidation.
