AUHTUAMAN AM) N. 7.. I'.UlMl ASSOCIATION HOBART, Oct 12. A man has been arrested in conueijtion with the. triple murder, which is probably the must horrible in the histof Tasmania. The arrested man is hacllv wounded, and the trooper who affected the arrest was also wounded. A struggle is indicated, hut no details arc available. THE ARRESTED. MAN. The arrested man, George Carpenter, was discovered by one of the police’s senroliing parties, seven miles from the* scent! of the murders. The police surrounded a but which Carpenter bad barricaded. Later lie showed fight, and Ihe police fired sev-ral shots. Carpenter came out badly wounded in both arms. During the firing. Constable Dodd was wounded ill I lie' arm by a billlet from one of his companions’ rifles, both were removed to Hobart hospital. f arpeliter's condition is serious. Carpenter was formally charged with the murder of Trooper Henderson, whom he alleged 1-e shot by accident.
