Princess Theatre.
POPULAR ENTERtA IN-MENT.
There was an excellent attendance at the Princess Theatre last night for the entertainment in aid of St Mary's School. The performance was contributed bv the pupils and friends of the Mnrist School, tJreymouth, and local folk are 'indebted to the performers for the pleasure derived from the friendly invasion. Indeed, had the excellence of the entertainment been more noised abroad in advance there would have been an even larger attendance still to enjoy the many good items which were contributed under the baton of the presiding Mnrist Brother. The Mnrist bovs gave several clever items, all of which were much enjoyed. In linn musical numbers the voices .blended nicely, and with the good time kept, the result was very pleasing. The. action songs were particularly good. So also was the statue drill which was quite an artistic novelty and would he worthy imitation at any local entertainment promoted by juveniles. The vocal items by the juvenile members of Marist boys pleased the audience: greatly and the humorous items created great deljidit. The balloon dance was clever as" we'd as pretty, and the Irish jig was tripped in good style, winning great applause. There were some amusing dialogues which delighted the juvenile section of the audience. The seniors assisting helped greatly with monologues, concerted music and solos. The ladies and gent lenient ML gave pleasing performances and added distinctively to the evening’s suce«ss. Before the close- of the entertainment the Revd. Dr Kennedy took the opportunity to- return thanks to the audience for the* liberal patronage extended, and specially thanked the visitincr concert party from Greymouth for providing so delightful an entertainment. His personal feelings in the matter were those of deep gratiture both for the help afforded the local school.financially and the pleasure given by the entertainment. They all appreciated the programme for its many excellencies, and the reverend speaker’s words cl thanks to the performers were endorsed by the applause of the audience.
