The University Club has forwarded a letter to the Otago Rugby Union drawing attention to the spirit in which last Saturday’s benefit match was played, and the way in which it was controlled. The game was undoubtedly rough at times, the “hoot” being occasionally put in.

Tt was well on in the (second spell before they went to the, front in the scoring, and they generally found South Auckland. back and forward, a solid proposition. A fenture of the game was the number of free kicks against the visitors for illegal tactics. Burge, one of the New South Wales team was ordered off the field during the latter part of the game.
