THURSDAY, SEPT. 28. (Before Warden Meldrum.) Guthrey and Perlinm (Mr Murdoch) fur renewal of timber reservation.— Granted. I’. N. Quarterniain, liquidator ol Pine Mills, Ltd., for protection of sawmill area (Mr Pilkington).—Reeonnnemkd for three months. Butler Bros.. Ltd., (Mr Murdoch) for tramway license.—Adjourned. Hohomi Gold Dredging Coy. (Aft Park) for a dam.— Granted. K.K. Sawmill Coy. (Air Alurdoeli), for renewal of timber reservation. — Granted.
Inspector of Alines v. Rinni Dredging Coy. (Air Alurdoeli) and Inspector of Alines v. F. B. Lewis, charges of being tbe owner (or dredgetnaster) of a gold dredge did employ men without having a permit in writing from the Inspector of Mines. Mr Alurdoeli for defendants pleaded guilty, stating the Company had a permit but the period bad run out, and owing to the Alnnaging Engineer, Mr Ford, being out of New Zealand, the renewal of the permit had been overlooked. A new permit had since been granted.
A conviction was recorded and a fine of Cl with costs 7s was inflicted in the first case and conviction with costs 7s to bo paid on tbe second charge.
