Matson and Co., report as i follows regarding their stock sale at Adj dington yards yesterday: ! Store Sheep—A small yarding and the markets showed an improvement all round. Best wetheis sold up to 23s 3d others from 19s 0:1 to 225; best wethers hoggets up to 19s, others from 13s to 15s od. Ewes liogegts from 18s to 21s Oil; ewes lambs all counted up to IGs 2d; others from 12s. Store Cattle—An average yarding and the demand for young cattle was fairly keen. A few large cattlo were ; entered and these wore generally of jnI . different quality and did nut elicit the | . same competition as the smaller sorts. | One good line of 2 years old heifers i made 93 los; yearling steers 25s to 38s; | yearling heifers 30s to 45; 2 year heifers to £3 15s, 3-.vear steers £3 15s. The usual entry of odd cows etc., came for- ■ ward and sold at recent prices . j Pigs—Baconers had a better entry ; than last week and the demand was keener. Light hnconers £3 10s to £3 . 15s; baconers £4 to £4 ss; heavy £4 IDs to £4 15s; choppers £3 10s to £7 The average price was 6.',d to 6Jd. Porkers, a large yarding and the market opened well, but fell off towards the finish. Light porkers £2 to £2 7s; medium £2 10s to £2 I4s 4d • heavy up to £3. Tho average price was 7J to Bd. StcTres—A. large yarding and tho demand was keen. All lots sold at auction. Weaners 18s to 265; slips 25s to ; 355; large stores to £2 ss; Sows in pig £3 to £4 10s. Beef—A smaller yarding/ than last week, only 290 coming forward out of which nearly 170 were from the North Island. The quality generally was good and the market opened quite 30s of an improvement, more than making up last week’s drop. One line of 50 North Island cattle made £l2 12s 6d to £l7 2s ( 6d averaging just on £ls. Prime steers £l2 10s to £ls 15s, extra to £l7 2s 6d: medium £lO to £l2 ss; others £6 10s to £9 ss. Prime heifers, extra to £lO 15s; others £4 to £7. Mutton—A smaller yarding than last week, hnt the quality generally was good. Very few ewes were yarded. J j The market showed n sharp rise from '
the commencement and if anything improved as it progressed. West Coast buyers were again operating and helped to maintain the market. The average advance was from 2s to 3s per head. Graziers were not operating to any extent. Prime wethers 27s to 335; extra 35s to 41s;' medium 23s 6d to 26s 6d; others 21s to 235. E"'es showed the same proportional advance. Shorn wethers sold to 235.
