CHRISTCHURCH, August 31. As a result of negotiations which have just been concluded, the Canterbury Park Trotting Club will take over the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Grounds at Addington, when tho latter removes to its new property on Ricearton Road. Addington lias become too small for the requirements of the Metropolitan Club, and recently it acquired a freehold property of 89 acres opposite Dean’s Bush two miles from the city. The preparation of plans for the buildings on the new course is now in hand. The appointments will he modern in every respect, and the racing track will be of grass It will probably be two years before the Metropolitan Club leaves Addington. The Canterbury Park Club is faced with a large expenditure to bring the buildings on its present course up to date, and, for a much smaller outlay it can obtain possession of what is at present the best trotting property in the Dominion. Addington is held under lease from the Hospital Board. The lease lias nine.yenrs to run, but no difficultv is anticipated in securing a renewal.
