[by TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] AVHITAKEK —McCDEAR V FTGHT. CHRISTCHURCH. Aug 29. Owing to the slight indisposition of McClearv, the fight for Saturday is off. An emergency meeting of the Christchurch Sports’ Club was hold to-night, and a decision to postpone the fight was made. Whitaker arrived from the North yesterday, and was .sportsmanlike, readily accepting the Club’s decision.
McCle-ary’s indisposition, according to bis medical adviser i s temporary only It is believed that a few days’ treatment wil.l set him right.
The match will he held on Saturday week, September 9th. at King Edward Barracks.
FRANK BURNS BEATEN. LONDON, Aug 29
In the fight between Todd and Frank Burns, Todd was superior from ■the +start. Burns was continuously defending. The hell twice ilived tie; Australian in the early rounds, i r>c end was apparent at the close of the tenth round. After a tame finish. Burn’s seconds threw in the towel in the twelfth round.
