[by TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] THE HOUSE. WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The debate on the Budget was continued by Messrs Masters, E. Newman, Tliackr, Nosworthy, McLeod and Holland. The latter moved /the following amendment, which the Government accepted as a no-confidence motion —That in view of the fact disclosed in the Budget that on March 31st, 1922, there was a surplus of £7,531,3(17 in tho Consolidated Fund, this House is of opinion that the Government has failed in its duty by not- making provisions for the absorption of the unemployed by proceeding with urgently necessary public works. The debate was adjourned on the motion of Mr Howard, and the House rose at 10.55 p.m.
