[BV TEPEOfIAni—PEK PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' WELLINGTON, August 24. THE COUNCIL. The Legisltivae Council met at 2.30 p.jn.

Hop. Dr Collins gave notice of intention to ask for a return showing the economic loss caiispd by the spread of venereal disease, the desired return showing the number of premature births and deaths caused by the disease, and a statement as to what amount would be saved in subsidies to hospitals and expenditure on Mental Hospitals if preventative assures were taken.

The Council adjourned until Tuesday next.

THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30. The debate on tho Budget was continued by Air Sidey, Sir J. Luke, Messrs AlcCnllum, Lee, Forbes, and Bitchener. The adjournment of the debate was moved by Air Veiteh and the House'rose at 10. So p.m.
