FRENCH OPINION. PARIS, Aug. 1-1-The French press is swinging like a pendulum and has again become pessimistic -over the Anglo-French deadlock. ~ . “L’Ednir” declares: “M. L omcare has been subjected in T-ondon to rude trials, to which France considers an end should bo put.” The “Figaro” sarcastically asks:— “Does one say now that British experts propose a two year moratorium. Why not a complete remission of the German debt.” The same paper alleges British had faith. A most amusing feature of the comment is the frenzied criticism of Mr Lloyd George’s departure from Conference to play golf. 'Le Joiunal” says it does not understand why, at a critical moment Mr Lloyd George aocs Into the country leaving two Prime Ministers and half a dozen others "in the jug”, or, as we say, m the soup!” . , “Lo Matin” explains that Mr l- 1 George, having signed bis hook contract for £90,000 serenely leaves for his usual Veek-end. “Le Journal de Debats” compares Mr Lloyd George with Jupiter or Zeus, and wonders whether he is no as capricious as Homer’s amorous Zeus. , . , Other journals refer to Ins act as an insult to France, and describe Mr Lloyd George as a call. At the morning meeting of the Allied Pertniers, a proposal by Schauzer and Hayashi was made, according to a French source, that a provisional inboratorium should be granted now, and a final decision be taken in three months .but. M. Poincare absolutely opposed any moratorium without guarantees.
