THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
What Pttnr.iciTY Has Done. Publicity activities of recent years have convinced even Auckland of the potentialities of the Wefit Coast as an agrarian district. The Coast is not so “wild'’ as was once popularity imagined. The stock-raising and dairying industries are thoroughly established across the range. They should flourish exceedingly once the Midland railway is (ompleted! In that day, the West Coast producers will no longer be at the mercy of the vagaries of the sen. A spur will ho given to closer settlement, and timber and coai will be landed in Christchurch and beyond, more cheaply than at present.—Christchurch Sun.
