NICHOLES CONVERTS TEN TRIES. AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. SYDNEY, Aug 9. Three thousand spectators were pro- ■ cut at the final match, New Zealand anainst the N. S. W. second fifteen at Manly. The weather was fine. and the match resulted in a. runaway victory for the visitors, who generally ignored the opposition. The New South Wales team, though they scored 111 points against the All r!:H;s’ 56. earned considerably less ... .ml of their scores being directly attributable to the daring manner in which the New Zealand hacks initiated attacking movements near their own goal, thus offering a premium to their opponents, which the latter were smart enough to intercept. Both spells wore more or less similar. with Beilis loading the vanguard through the- opposition repeatedly. All members of the team participated in passing rushes, the hall flying from player to player in a fashion bewilderng to the blue defenders. The first half ended: New Zealand 31; N.S.W. f) Beilis. Peterson. Richardson, Whyte. Ford and M. Nieholls scored j, try each, the last-named converted five and Steel kicked an excellent penalty goal from near the centre. McKay and Conner got tries for the home sied. Mingnv goaling one. The second spell for a while provided glimoscs of sparkling tit-hits. Whyte got two tries, whilst Dickinson. Cupples and Ford secured one each. Nieholls converting all. Towards the finish, the locals, by line passing bursts, added eleven points. Black getting two tries. Eyre and Thorn adding a goal for one. The game ended: New Zealand 56: Now South Wales 19.
