SPECIAL TO GUARDIAN. WELLINGTON, .This Day. , The Gold Duty deputation waited on ilie Co.orniimnt to-day. The representatives were Messrs Nees, Kelly, Clifton and Stoke representing the Otago, Thames and Westland Goldfields. The deputation was 'introduced by Mr T. Rhodes, M.P., and all goldfields members of Parliament were present to support the deputation. After hearing the request. Mr Massey, Prime Minister, promised a committee of enquiry, and both Mr Massey and Mr Anderson (Minister of Mines) promised a Board would- be set up with an older of reference which would give the Board power to call all evidence necessary to elucidate the matter, and fully determine the position.
