BRITISH AIRSHIP SCHEME. LONDON, -July 17
Mi I,l'ivd George. replying to a question in tiie House of Commons, said that a special committee was being appointed over which Colonel Amcrv will preside, to study the details ot Commander Burney’s airship scheme, with special attention to the question of whether it is likely to produce an airship of national value in war tinny and to the possibility "/ employing airships in connection with Imperial air communications.
Mr Lloyd George, replying to questions in the House of Commons, said that in view of economy, it had been decided not to spend money m developing air services. He could not rec-pt the statement that the aircraft industry was in immediate danger of a complete collapse, and that development: and research were at an end. The whole question was being considered. by the Committee on Imperial defence.
ROME, July 17
M. Schanzer states that during his visit to London he reached an Understanding regarding the protection of Christians in Asia Minor. He also states that Britain has accepted the Italian standpoint against their intervention in the Greeeo- Turkish conflict.
BRITAIN’S ATTITUDE ON DEBTS LONDON, July 17.
The Prime Minister stated the deadlock continues at The Hague. Unless a solution were f.mnd the British delegation would return at the end of the week.
He added that a special British Delegation was going to America in Septum her in connection with negotiations for funding the British debt to the United States.
BOTTOMLEY AND COMMONS. LONDON, July 17
The House of Commons has agreed to a preliminary motion for Horatio Bottotnley’s expulsion from Parliament. It is hoped, in political circles that Bottomley will not exercise his rigl't to address the House of Commons from the Bar of the House, as he threatens to do. He has already petitioned against his removal to Parkhurst Prison, desiring to remain in Wormwood Scnihs gapl, in order to he able to appeal - in the House of Commons, when his expulsion motion Is submitted, and to superintend matters relating to his bankruptcy. The Home Office has granted his petition. .
Tt is understood Bottomley, unless he is ill, will certainly address the House of Commons.
