RUGBY REFEREES
AVELLINGTON, July 2
At the meeting of the AVellington Rugby Referees’ Association there was a discussion oil the establishment of a judicial committee to try players ordered off the field. It was agreed that the association should approve of the appointment of a committee and that representation of the Referees’ Association he left to the. executive to deal with. BRITISH EMPIRE EXHIBITION. ARRIVAL OF MISSION. AVELLINGTON July 3. • Three members of the British Empire Exhibition Mission arrived by the Manuka to-day—Major E. A. Belcher, Lieut. Colonel A. Christie, and Mr F. AA r . Bates. The purpose of the vi,sit has it is contended a. most important bearing upon the future development of the Dominion’s primary and secondarv industries.
The visitors were* welcomed Ly Mr 11. AV. Dalton his Majesty's trade representative in New Zealand, and representatives of the Industries and Commerce, Agricultural and Internal Affairs Departments. AVliilo touring the Dominion the Mission will take the opportunity of. discussing practical methods of developing the Domnimi’s raw materials and how the exhibition will afford a magnificent opportunity for the development of inter-imperial trade. Representatives of Chambers of Commerce will lie in dose touch with tho Mission. Tt is hoped that throughout the Dominion all possible help will he acceded the distinguished visitors. To-day they paid an official visit to the Governor-l.cn-erol and later mot tlie Prime Munster and other .Ministers at Parliament buildings. To-morrow they will he accorded a civic reception and later will meet, member's of the Chamber of Commerce and representatives of Industrial interests. They will also meet representatives of agricultural and pastoral interests and hold a conference with the heads of Government Departments. After spending ten days in AVellin<>t.on the Mission will leave tor the South Island, returning to Wellington and leaving for the North Island tour about the end of July.
