MONDAY, JULY 3. i The Committee met at 7.45 p.m. , Present: —.Messrs \Y. 11. Shannon j ! (C liuirman), T. AV. Bruce, J. King, \Y. J 1 IS. Richards, D. Stevenson, A. Aitken, and S. J. Preston (lion. see). . An apology was made lor the absence I of Rev Purehas. The minutes were confirmed and- outward correspondence approved. ; INWARD C'()I! RESPONPENCE. , . From Canterbury Board, in reference to overcrowding of scholars, and stating p that the addition of an extra pupil , teacher now approved would solve the ' difficulty.—Received. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Richards, seconded by Mr Aitken, to send an emphatic protest ; to the Board complaining of the lack of i publicity given in connection with nominations for the Board vacancy, which ’ had only come in an indirect manner , under tlie notice of the Committe. | From Miss E. Ward, thanking ComI mittoe for expression of sympathy in her illness.—Received, j From Miss Hackell (teacher at South Spit.) reporting the average attendance for June was 20.2 out of a roll number of 23.—Received. 1 From Rector (Mr J. Irvine) reporting I the attendance for June showed roll 1 number 341 primary and (51 secondary, 1 a total of 402. The attendance was I 322 primary, 58 secondary, a total of .'HO; that contributions to the coal fund, for the month totalled £3 4s lid; that the honors hoard had not yet received I the promised attention.—Received.
