Princess Chrysanthemum

THURSDAY NIGHT. By the courtesy of Mr Tom Pollard the'usual picture display on Thursday night will give place to the Greynnmth juvenile opefa “Princess Chrysanthemum” at the Princess Theatre. The ; box plan is now open and the hooking is 1 good, indicating a large attendance for what is generally voted in the northern ' town, a very pleasant and enjoyable ' entertainment. | “.Princess Chrysanthemum” is a

bright and sparkling opera in three scenes. The first setting is the Emperor's garden, followed hy the cave ! scene of inky night The final scene ' takes the audience hack to the opening in the garden of the Emperor. The scenery has been specially prepared by Messrs Caigou and Kent of Greymouth. There is a good cast of juveniles and tin l characters arc said to he well interpreted. There is a very pretty butterfly. I, allot in the first act. while in the second act the dances include that of the gnomes, the.fairy ballet, the dance of the fire-flies and a pns-de-soul. In the final act there is n marching song well featured and an eccentric dance. In, addition to the principals there is a host of minor characters, and m the general ensemble there are over 70 juveniles on the stage. Mrs Staveley >s the producer ef thfc pleasing opera, and lias Art- F. Reslien-ux associated ns musical director. There is Pollard's full orchestra in addition, so that the musical entertainment should ho quite a delight. Patrons are reminded that the performance will begin punctually at 8 o’clock. _____
